Accomplishment, Rest, and the Blessings of 2020
It’s been a long time since I’ve shared a message with you. It’s so good to reconnect. 2020 was a year of challenge and frustration but was also a year of healing and restoration… a year to complete forgotten projects or start something new.
Part of my year was spent healing and growing in grace, hope, and faith. I am so grateful to be filled with the “peace that passes all understanding.” It’s miraculous how God takes our rejection, failure, and shame and turns it into something beautiful. Somehow, through the journey, God led me to ACCOMPLISH what He desired and to REST in His provision and love. And He has done marvelous things.
Accomplishment and rest are often viewed as contrary to one another. But when we make homemade snow with our children, watch football or a Hallmark movie with our spouse, or spend an hour on the phone with someone we love; isn’t what we are accomplishing more meaningful than earning another promotion or degree? Or keeping a spotless house?
What are your 5 most memorable moments of 2020? The ones that make you smile when you think of them? The ones others remind you of as they reminisce these many days and months of COVID?
2020 was probably the most challenging year of my life, and I’m no Spring Chicken. I’ve got some years behind me. Yet, when I ponder the blessings of the last 10 months, I think of tomato soup and grilled cheese, lots of laughter, difficult conversations that ended with compromise and a kiss, board games and dice games, group hugs, the joy of a dear friend receiving a hand-stitched gift, and the strong realization of the power of prayer.
I’d love to know how God blessed you and your family this past year. Did you complete a long forgotten project? Catch up on much-needed rest? Learn a new craft or hobby? Whatever you did, I pray it blessed your heart with joy, love, passion, and hope for a future filled with God’s favor as all things come together for good for those who love Christ Jesus.
